Steve Ladley – Founder of Neocare
Steve Ladley, founder of Neocare, built the company on a foundation of practical experience, strong values, and a clear vision for improving healthcare environments. With a background in the British military followed by a successful career in commercial roles within medical devices and technology, Steve developed a deep understanding of both operational discipline and the evolving needs of healthcare providers. It was this combination of experience that enabled him to identify a clear gap in the market and establish Neocare in 2006.
From the outset, Steve’s vision was centred on improving both the functionality of clinical environments and the wellbeing of the people working within them. He recognised the physical demands placed on healthcare professionals—particularly within sterile services and decontamination settings—and the risks of long-term back injuries. This awareness became a driving force behind Neocare’s early innovations, including height-adjustable sinks and ergonomic stainless steel solutions designed to support better posture, health and safety, and overall staff wellbeing, while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control.
In the early days of the business, Steve and his wife played a hands-on role in every aspect of Neocare’s growth. Demonstrating a true family-run ethos, they would travel from their home in the West Country to hospitals across the UK—including as far as Scotland—often working weekends to install equipment and minimise disruption to busy healthcare environments. This commitment to flexibility and customer support remains a defining characteristic of the business today, with work frequently carried out outside of normal operating hours to ensure facilities can continue delivering uninterrupted patient care.
Steve’s dedication to quality, innovation, and service has resulted in products that stand the test of time. Many of Neocare’s earliest installations remain in operation today, a testament to their durability and performance. Over the years, this reliability—combined with Steve’s personal approach—has made him a trusted partner for estates teams and clinical managers, who have consistently turned to Neocare for both standard and bespoke stainless steel solutions. These long-standing relationships have been built on trust, responsiveness, and a shared commitment to excellence.
As the business has evolved, Steve has remained deeply committed to its people and its customers. His family-oriented values have shaped not only the culture within Neocare but also the way the company supports its clients. This was particularly evident during the transition of ownership to Rakesh Javer, where Steve took great care to ensure continuity by personally supporting introductions and maintaining the strong relationships he had built over many years.
Although Steve has now stepped back into retirement, he remains a valued friend and the driving force behind Neocare’s legacy. His vision, work ethic, and commitment to doing the right thing continue to underpin the company today—ensuring that Neocare remains a trusted and respected partner within the healthcare sector.
